Hypacages are versatile, durable and lightweight. They are also stackable and make an easy alternative to more traditional moving and handling apparatus such as pallets and storage bins. They’re very flexible which makes them useful in any storage environment.
Before
we discuss whether or not hypacages are worth all the hype they’ve been
generating in the storage community, let’s take a look at what they are and why
they’re different from other traditional forms of storage unit.
Why
use hypacages?
In
these times of ecological uncertainty, we all need to do what we can to limit
the damage we do. Using wooden pallets has its benefits as wood is a renewable
source. However, their very short life span and relative weakness means that a
large percentage of them end up in the rubbish pile. More energy is then needed
to make new ones, not to mention more wood and other materials.
However,
when you buy hypacages you’re getting long-lasting and durable storage
solutions that will last for years. Lightweight and corrosion resistant,
hypacages are very useful for any company that wants to reduce its impact on
the environment. The high walled sides also help to keep goods and materials
safe and protected, even during transit.
These
side hatches can be dropped to make loading and unloading easier and to reduce
the risk of accidents in the workplace, helping to keep your staff safer at
work. In the warehouse, they can be safely stacked four or five high, helping
to free up floor space in crowded areas for a safer working environment.
When
not in use, hypacages can be folded down and flat-packed for easy storage. This
again helps you to save space in your storage area. The smaller storage
facility you need, the less it costs in rent and rates, so hypacages could even
save you money in the long run. Or if you were concerned that you needed to
upgrade to a larger storage area, hypacages could put off this costly
transition until it is absolutely necessary.
Where
to use hypacages
If
you currently have a storage area where you use pallets or other bulky storage
solutions, then this could be the perfect place to upgrade to hypacages. They
can hold a huge amount of material and, because of their lightweight nature,
they remain easy to move. Anywhere you need to move goods, hypacages can also
be used, including on the shop floor.
The reinforced structure allows for easier shipping too, increasingly replacing the wooden pallet as the transport method of choice for most people. With a wire mesh cage protecting the goods, it offers more solid support than a wooden pallet base and plastic wrap (and has significant environmental benefits too). Hypacages also make stock takes and inventory that little bit easier too. With units capable of handling up to 1,500kg of weight, they’re hard-wearing and, because they collapse, they can easily make the return journey.
So,
are hypacages worth the hype? Almost certainly yes.
